3. Aims
The aim of the new Research Training Group "Locating Media" is the investigation of locative and situational media processes by applying locative and situational methods. This will be the first time that such an endeavor will take place within the scope of an interdisciplinary research association that connects research in media studies with the relevant competence of experts in cultural and social studies as well as in information technology. This is supposed to be achieved by facilitating innovatively structured works of doctoral candidates that not only closely tie the candidates thematically to the current developments in research but also systematically promotes their interdisciplinary collaboration through the methods described in the concepts of qualification and support. The Research Training Group will further the interchange of different communities of practice in media studies and thereby intensify the basic research in German media studies.
