Erasmus Intensive Programme

Erasmus Intensive Programme "Myths, Nation-Building, Political Identities" (2010 - 2012)

About the Programme:

The Erasmus Intensive Programme was conducted as a three-year programme cycle. In 2010 the programme concentrated on Myths, in 2011 it focused on the analysis of the process of Nation-Building and the third Spring School in 2012 focused on Political Identities. The programme coordinator was Prof. Dr. Raphaela Averkorn. The programme has been funded by the European Commission within the LLP Erasmus Programme. 

Aim of the programme:

The programme's aim was to offer an additional international component to the participating students within their regular courses of study.
 
Students attending the programme should be enabled to:
  • get insights into new perspectives, theories and contents within an interdisciplinary and innovative learning environment
  • work and learn in international groups, practice and enhance their intercultural competence and get new insights into their own culture
  • broaden their knowledge on different theoretical and thematic approaches to Myths, Nation-Building and Political Identity within the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences
  • actively apply what they have learned during afternoon workshops by analysing different case studies and presenting their results to a broader audience
  • acquire competences in working with new media by participating in blended e-learning sequences and using online-forums

Disciplines


The multi-disciplinary programme comprised relevant topics and aspects from various disciplines. Members from the following departments at the University of Siegen contributed to the programme:

Structure of the Programme:


The course programme included lectures, presentations and discussions on different aspects of the topics of "Myths", "Nation-Building" and “Political Identities" as well as workshops in which students from the participating universities developed and discussed theoretical concepts and analysed reading material together with teachers and tutors. In addition, the programme was complemented by cultural activities.
