Structure

The duration of the Dual PhD is three years. This time is usually split up into two equal halves, each of which is spend at one of the two universities. Fees are split accordingly. Participants of the programme register from the beginning of their doctoral studies with both universities and can decide where to be in the first half and where in the second half. In consultation with convenors and supervisors in both places, the student can be allowed some flexibility regarding the time division.

Apart from individual supervised thesis work, candidates take part in annual research workshops jointly organised by both institutions. Furthermore, they have the opportunity to attend colloquia, research seminars, conferences and optional courses of their choice at each university.
