The Cultural Ecology and Literature Didactics (Kulturökologie und Literaturdidaktik – KÖLI) research centre at the University of Siegen, which was founded by Prof. Dr. Berbeli Wanning, has been granted an award by the German Commission for UNESCO as a project of the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development.

The new Funding Atlas published recently by Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (German Research Foundation, DFG) examines the research performance of every university and research institution in Germany. The University of Siegen scored an excellent ranking.
(16 May 2012) Student Service Centre officially opened
In a small ceremony, the new Student Service Centre building has been inaugurated on Adolf Reichwein-Straße Campus. Chancellor Dr. Johann Peter Schäfer welcomed SSC employees, students, neighbours and interested parties who seized the opportunity to visit the new centre.
(12 April 2012) University of Siegen ranks highly among foreign students
The International Student Barometer 2011 interviewed over 200,000 students at 238 universities around the world. In Germany 56 institutions participated in the survey. Among foreign doctoral students, University of Siegen was ranked first among the German institutions in terms of research management and the opportunities for teaching.
(March 3, 2012) Taking advantage of synergies: new cooperation agreement between University of Siegen and the German Federal Employment Centre “Agentur für Arbeit” at Siegen
A cooperation agreement to ensure transparent career and study orientation programmes was signed on 9 March 2012 by the University’s Rector, Prof. Dr. Holger Burckhart and the Head of the Federal Employment Centre at Siegen, Dr. Bettina Wolf.
