The University of Siegen is placed among the top 400 universities in the world at THE Engineering and Technology Subject Ranking. Among other things, the quality of teaching and research as well as the international orientation play a role in the selection.
The University of Siegen is one of the 400 best universities worldwide in the field of civil-, mechanical- and electrical engineering / computer science. This is the result of the Times Higher Education (THE) Engineering and Technology Subject Ranking 2018. There, the university occupied a place between 301 and 400. A total of 500 universities took part in the ranking.
The Times Higher Education Ranking evaluates universities worldwide according to criteria from five different areas: quality of teaching, quality of research, citations from university work, the level of third-party funding attained, and the international orientation. The data for the ranking comes partly from bibliometric databases, but also from the universities themselves and from a reputation survey.
The highest ranked German university in THE Engineering and Technology Subject Ranking is the TU München on the 20th place. The first two places occupied two universities from the USA with the Stanford University (place 1) and the California Institute of Technology (place 2).
In the general Times Higher Education Ranking, the University of Siegen occupied a place between 401 and 500. A total of more than 1,100 universities participated in the overall ranking.
