Accompanying Family

Are you planning to stay in Siegen with your family or your spouse? In this case you will find information about different formalities and consulting services below. Please let us know at an early stage if your family will accompany you, so we can support your planning.

Visa and entry

For your stay in Siegen, any family wishing to accompany you will, depending upon nationality, require a visa to enter Germany, and a residence permit to stay for a significant period of time.  It is important that you tell the Welcome Center well in advance if your family wants to come to Siegen, so that we can assist you with the procedure and formalities.

A visa may take 8-12 weeks or more to arrive, so please plan ahead with this in mind. In order for you to check if it is necessary for your family to apply for a visa to be able to enter Germany, check the visa requirement list  here .

The requirements for applying for a visa can be found on the pages of the responsible German diplomatic mission.
