The Laboratory of Nano Optics at the Physics Department, Faculty of Science and Technology, aims to fill an open position with

(100% position, salary scale 13 TV-L)

in a fixed term contract, initially for one year with possible extension, based on the Act on Temporary Employment in Higher Education. The terms of employment are according to German law (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz).

The postdoctoral assistant will initiate a collaborative work between the Laboratory of Nano-Optics and the Laboratory of Physical Chemistry at the University of Siegen to design a bioassay in combination with a planar optical antenna and to validate the physical and biochemical detection limits of the approach. See for example our recent publications on the subject, S. Checcucci, et al., Light: Sci. & Appl. 6, e16245 (2017).

The candidate should be familiar with at least one of the two areas involved in the project, i.e. single-molecule spectroscopy and biointerfaces, and be interested in interdisciplinary work. The person will also be connected to a starting ERA-NET Project on Photonic Sensing, with partners from Germany and Italy.

Candidates must hold a PhD in physics, physical chemistry, chemistry, electrical engineering or in a similar field. We expect solid English skills.

This position falls in the obligations of scientific wide qualification. Such opportunity is given within the scope of the official duties.
