The fundamental activity of the ERC (European Research Council) is to provide attractive, long-term funding to support excellent investigators and their research teams to pursue ground-breaking, high-gain/ high-risk research. The information event gives you an overview of the funding schemes the ERC offers to individual researchers; the ERC Starting Grants (2 to 7 years after PhD), Consolidator Grants (7 to 12 years after PhD) and Advanced Grants for established research leaders with an outstanding track record. Synergy Grants are designed for groups of two to max. four principal Investigators. Prof. Dr. Otfried Gühne, a current ERC CoG grantee, will give further insights in the application and evaluation process.[SD]
