Alexandra Bergedick
In this workshop, you will get to know the core principles and practices of up-to-date Academic Higher Education in Germany, and how to apply these to your current or future classes. We will look at structured and co-herent ways of planning a class, lesson and sequence, according to the principle of Constructive Alignment. Our central issue will be how to help raise the motivation of students and enhance their active participation in their learning process. We will apply and evaluate, view and discuss a large range of activating methods for specific purposes in your classes, such as methods for discussions and working with texts. We will also look at a variety of assessment and evaluation methods to illustrate the students learning progress during a running semester. We will identify ways to promote students compliance to develop and carry out successful presen-tations and term papers, i.e. by evaluating their performance and giving them constructive feedback along defined criteria. By the end of this work-shop, you will be able to identify ways of motivating & activating your students, and you will know how to apply these.
