Prorectorate for Digital and Regional Affairs

The work of the Prorectorate serves to accompany and further develop the strategic positioning of the University. The profile lines of the University and the region are to be coordinated.

The University of Siegen's already visible research focus on the topic of "digitization" is to be further expanded, integrated into the university's self-image, and made fruitful for regional concerns.

With the Prorectorate, new structures have been established for strategic and operational IT topics (such as the CIO Board and the CIO Office) as well as for networking with regional stakeholders (founding of a regional advisory board; further development of the third mission from knowledge transfer to knowledge coproduction; support for start-up activities). The prorectorate's activities are based on the conviction that IT solutions must be developed in a participatory and iterative manner with stakeholders (from research, administration, the student body, IT administration, and those interested in science) and continuously reflected upon scientifically.
