Impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the progress of research projects, tenders and review procedures
Due to the further spread of the corona pandemic, the University of Siegen is currently in a phase of minimal operation. This also affects the work of the Research Support Office, whose staff are currently working in the home office. The consulting and support services of our department are still available. We are happy to advise and support you in your research projects by e-mail and telephone.

In a letter to the funding recipients, the German Research Foundation (DFG) provided initial information on the progress of the project work and funding in view of the coronavirus pandemic. The letter can be found here (german).

In addition to the possibility of a cost-neutral extension of duration, the Foundation is currently discussing other options to ensure planning security for funded projects and individuals and is seeking constructive solutions to the problems arising from the current situation.Extension of submission deadlines in the following programmes:
Global Challenges: Mobility - Global Medicine and Health Research (30.04.2020; originally 17.04.20)
Global Challenges - Integration unterschiedlicher Perspektiven zu Erbe und Wandel deadline extended: 13.05.2020; originally 25.03.2020) Important information: Unfortunately, the deadline for submission of conference proposals on 31 May 2020 is cancelled.
The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation has compiled some important information on Sponsorship and residence planning for exchange programmes and stays abroad. You can find information here.
Furthermore, the Humboldt Foundation cannot accept new applications for some alumni sponsorship programmes until further notice. It is currently assumed that the following funding measures will no longer be possible in 2020:
- european research stays
- renewed research stays
- participation in specialist congresses
- short visits to other research institutes and
- Humboldt Kollegs
The DAAD promotes the international exchange of students and scientists and is particularly affected in its funding activities. Detailed information about which DAAD programmes are postponed or completely suspended for the summer semester and how return trips of scholarship holders can be organised can be found here.
