Internal Awards for Young Researchers
Every year, young scientists of the University of Siegen receive awards for outstanding scientific achievements, partly in cooperation with regional institutions.
Each supervisor of an award-worthy treatise can propose the author to the Commission for Research & Young Scientists. First, a few key points concerning the individual awards. (The exact guidelines can be found behind the blue-marked text. Please write me an email if there are still questions at email@example.com).
Two prizes are awarded by the Dirlmeier Foundation: the historian pize for scientific dissertations from the field of history, as well as the sponsorship award, which is open to all disciplines. Dissertation and Habilitation dissertations are preferred, but Master Thesis or Bachelor Thesis may also be proposed.
The international Newcomer prize is planned for the award of outstanding dissertations and is to honor a foreign doctoral student.
The DAAD-Prize is also planned for the international newcomers of the University of Siegen. However, here the focus is on the intercultural or social commitment of a student. Even if the student should demonstrate good study performance, the award is NOT intended for the award of a thesis (also not a doctorate).
The prize of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce is intended for graduation work from the fields of engineering, business, natural sciences, or other areas close to the economic sphere. The work should be able to substantiate a high level of application relevance, i.e. practical research.
This is also a precondition for the awards of the districts of Altenkirchen, Olpe and Siegen-Wittgenstein, but always in connection with the respective district. This reference to the district can be as follows: For the prizes of the districts Altenkirchen and of Olpe, either
a) the student has completed his schooling there (+ application / practical benefit for the [general] economy)
b) the work was created in cooperation with a company from the district
c) the work is a structural study for a question from the region of the district.
Please submit all necessary documents, except for the printed version of the proposed thesis, via email (in the unprotected PDF format) to the speaker of the Rector for Research and Young Scientists, Ms Lena Butz (firstname.lastname@example.org. Also, please fill in this form and use it as cover sheet of your documents.
