The degree program

The degree program offers intensive supervision to establish the best conditions for structured discussion of the substantial topics of this subject. Siegen conducts outstanding research with internationally connected and recognized research focuses – philosophical gender studies, language and Kant research, among others. The resulting range of courses is broadly diversified with various areas of special focus on cognitive science, philosophy of the mind, ontology, practical philosophy and history of philosophy.

Graduates of this degree program will receive a basic scientific qualification and develop a broad range of key qualifications that will prepare them for professional life. The bachelor’s program promotes analytical and critical thinking and shapes historical and subject-specific knowledge. This enables students to interpret philosophical texts in different contexts, to understand philosophical theories and to critically assess them. The presentation of problems as well as statements on open questions qualifies them for various professions in the fields of culture, society and the economy.

Important information

By the end of the third semester, foreign language skills in English and another foreign language must be documented.

Professional prospects

The degree program provides training especially for science and research at universities and institutes. The graduates will also be qualified for many professions in the following fields of work: media and communication, management, educational and cultural work as well as activities in consulting. Depending on the choice of the further major or minor subject, the range of possible professions can be expanded further.
