The study program
Why does one person get sick and the other does not? How can
diseases be prevented and health promoted? How can we improve
prevention and care through digital technologies? What impact
does digitalization have on health in our living environments
and how can we use digital health technologies in line with
needs and requirements? These and similar questions are the
subject of Digital Public Health.
The discipline expands the previous population-based
perspective of Public Health, taking into account the
continuous change in our living environments due to
digitalization. In this sense, Digital Public Health is a
subject that is both interdisciplinary and
application-oriented, dedicated to researching, analyzing and
solving health problems of the population as a whole or of
individual population groups against the backdrop of the
potentials, challenges and requirements of digitalization. In
this context, Digital Public Health examines the societal
changes and consequences of digitalization at the macro, meso
and micro levels in terms of their impact on health and
disease.
The Master's degree program deals with the social and
psychosocial interactions of health, digitalization and
society, and their consequences for prevention, health
promotion, medical and nursing care, and our social security
systems.
Professional perspectives
The Master's degree program in Digital Public Health is
designed to impart fundamental specialist knowledge in the
analytical-methodical field in conjunction with application and
implementation-oriented knowledge. This opens up numerous
career opportunities for graduates in various fields, such as
research institutions, health and care insurance companies,
social welfare associations, associations and foundations,
public health offices and authorities, hospitals or consulting
centers, as well as in the private sector. Their special
expertise at the interface of health, digitalization and
society is in great demand in order to shape the processes of
digital transformation in our living environments in an
evidence-based and needs-oriented manner. In doing so, they
conceptualize, implement, and evaluate innovative solutions for
the health and social services of the future.
Their interdisciplinary knowledge and methodological skills
enable them to work as team members or in the management of
projects in research, together with cost bearers, in politics
or in the private sector. During this process, they take a
holistic perspective and shape the digital transformation of
our living environments in a health-oriented way.
The Master's degree provides graduates not only with a
straightforward career path, but also with the prerequisites
for applying for a doctoral program in the field of public
health.
Admission requirement
