Advanced Inorganic Chemistry
ECTS-Credits: 6
Further information for Lecture, Excercises and Seminar is available at LSF
Start: Tuesday, 09.10.2012 10:15 h (am) at AR-F002
Lecture/Downloads
Lecture note of Part I (Inorganic Molecules):
Lecture note of Part II (Coordination Chemistry):
Lecture note of Part III (Solid State Chemistry):
Content
The lecture will give a comprehensive summary of advanced aspects of various fields of modern inorganic chemistry. It develops an understanding for the behaviour of molecules and solids in terms of structures, properties and reactivity. Theoretical ideas and models for classical and non-classical inorganic compounds are treated together with important physical methods for their characterization and the measurement of basic physical data.
Recommended textbook
D. Shriver, P. Atkins, Inorganic Chemistry , Freeman and Company(further specialised textbooks for sub-chapters (e.g. Solid State Chemistry, Coordination Chemistry, Inorganic Molecules) are recommended during the lecture)
Examination
Written examination at the end of winter semester (75%), see special announcement
Exercises/Seminar: 15-20 min. talks on selected topics (25%)
Further information
Written examination (1 free trial, 3 regular exams): 10 exercises, max. 10 points each (50% min. for 6 ECTS credits), Exercises/Seminar: Talks including discussion about selected topics of Inorganic Chemistry - short written summaries, participation in the Tuesday seminar of Inorganic Chemistry (17-19 h, see special announcement).
