Packing list
In order to have a successful start in Siegen, you should think of taking These documents and things with you:
Documents:
- Passport and visa (if needed)
- Admission letter of university
- Original hard copies plus translations and certified copies:
- Certificate of graduation from school
- University diplomas (if applicable)
- Certificates of language tests (if applicable)
- Confirmation of health insurance (if recognized in Germany)
Further:
- Credit card or similar
- Sufficient amount of cash (It will need some time until you'll have Access to a bank account and to transfer money to it. In the first days, you'll probably need money for: semester fee, deposit for rent, rent for the first month, food, etc.
- Biometric passport picture
- Address of your accommodation and description of the directions
- If neccessary: Adapter plug (line voltage in Germany is 220 volt)
- If neccessary: blanket
Please note: On Sundays and public hollidays (like October 3rd), all stores in Germany are closed; you will only find some open restaurants. So if you arrive at such a day, remember, for instanca, to organize a blanket for the first night.
IMPORTANT: Please never transport important documents and money in your suitcase, but always in your hand luggage, so that the risk of losing it remains as low as possible!
