Getting to Siegen
Should you be traveling to

For those who are traveling to Germany by plane, there are four
airports located not too far from Siegen.
Please note: You can use the so-called Deutschlandticket for
the train ride from the airport to Siegen. With this online
ticket for €49 monthly you can use all public transport (with
the exception of the high-speed trains IC and ICE) in the whole
of Germany. The ticket can be purchased from various transport
companies or directly on the website of the Deutsche Bahn (see
here). Please note that you will need a
bank account with an IBAN as well as a BIC and one that is
SEPA-compatible to purchase the ticket directly from the
Deutsche Bahn. An alternative would be to buy the
Deutschlandticket from this transport company or in their
app. There you can also use your credit
card or PayPal.
Frankfurt am Main Airport
(FRA)
Frankfurt am Main Airport is Germany's largest commercial
airport and the fourth largest airport in Europe. To get
from Frankfurt to Siegen, there are different types of
transportation you can use.
The cheapest option is to travel by coach. The Flixbus, for instance, takes you from
the airport to Siegen in 2.5 hours. Tickets are available
from €7.99 and it runs twice a day.
Train
tickets are available from €17.90 but can be
significantly more expensive depending on the connection
and the date of booking. However, there are numerous
connections throughout the day, which will get you to
Siegen in approx. 2–2.5 hours.
The quickest (01:50 h) but also most expensive way to get
to Siegen is by taxi. Please

Cologne/Bonn Airport (CGN)
Cologne/Bonn Airport is an international commercial airport
located between the cities Bonn and Cologne (Bonn being the
former capital city of Germany). There are 23 airlines
flying from Cologne Bonn airport, and it used to be
certified for landings of the NASA space shuttles.
To get to Siegen from the airport the quickest and easiest
way is by train, which takes approx. 1.5 hours. Tickets
are sold at around €20.40 and there is a connection once an
hour at xx:18 h.
Traveling by taxi is substantially more expensive but will
get you to Siegen within approx. an hour, if there is no

Dusseldorf Airport (DUS)
DUS Airport is North Rhine-Westphalia’s largest airport. A
number of different international airlines fly to more than
100 destinations from here. Düsseldorf Airport also has the
largest tower of all German airports, which has a height of
87 meters.
Traveling to Siegen from Düsseldorf by train
will take approx. 1.5 hours and the cheapest tickets are
available for €30.30.
Traveling by taxi is also an option, albeit more expensive
and not much, if at all faster than traveling by train.
Dortmund Airport (DTM)
Dortmund Airport is the third largest airport in North
Rhine-Westphalia and is located 10 km outside of Dortmund.
It serves the eastern Rhine-Ruhr area, the largest urban
area in Germany.
Traveling from Dortmund Airport to Siegen by train
takes approx. 3 hours and tickets are sold from €23.80
upwards.
Taking a Flixbus is also an option. As they
leave from Dortmund Central Station, you need to take the
airport bus (AirportExpress, 25 min non-stop, €9) first and
then take the Flixbus from there. This takes approx. 2
hours in total.
The quickest but also most expensive way to get to Siegen
is to travel by taxi (1.5 hours).
