On Saturday, July 31, our dear colleague and friend dr. J. (Piet) Strijker, associate professor at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands, and Netherlands’ most important expert and researcher in the field of family foster care, has passed away.

In commemoration of dr. J. (Piet) Strijker.

 The 4th International Network Conference will take place in Groningen (NL) from 22. - 25. septemper 2010. The program  of the pre-conference is now available!

 The 3rd International Network Conference took place in Swiss from 21st-23rd September 2009.

Our Foster Care Research Online Platform got started! For further information please check the "Groups" section and register to join us!
 Our 2nd International Network Conference took place at the University of Lüneburg, Germany from September 22nd-25th 2008.The conference topic was:
"Elective Affinities".The Documentation of this Conference is coming soon.

 

At the University of Siegen a research focus “Research on growing up in foster care” is developed under the chair of Prof. Dr. Klaus Wolf.

Core elements of the research focus are currently:

  • Establishing an International research network "Foster Care Research",
  • A study on "Growing up in foster care – the foster child’s perspective" (begin of a pilot study: 02/2007)
  • Consulting and Evaluating regional practice of foster care by the ZPE (Zentrum für Planung und Evaluation Sozialer Dienste – Center for planning and Evaluation of social services at the University of Siegen),
  • Establishing a colloquium for PhD/ doctoral Students „Research on Foster Children, Foster Families and on Foster Care“ at the University of Siegen,
  • International PhD/ doctorates within „International Education Doctorate Program (INEDD)“ at the University of Siegen Departement 2 (Educational Sciences and Psychology)

At the 1st International Network Conference at the University of Siegen it has been decided to create an Online Research Platform. On this platform Focus-Groups on different reserach topics on foster care can be installed. The members of the focus groups share informations about their research and discuss problems.
