Our region has much to offer for families with children. A wide range of stakeholders work closely together to ensure Siegen’s family-friendly agenda and to help you balance the demands of dual careers and child-care responsibilities.

You will find very good child daycare facilities, excellent schools and training opportunities as well as ample child medical care.

Splendid nature, comfortable housing options in friendly neighbourhoods, a large choice of sports and recreational activities as well as a vibrant cultural life specifically developed for families with children all contribute towards making this an attractive region to live in.

We work closely with the Family Service Office of University of Siegen and Siegen's local family alliance (Familienbüro der Stadt Siegen) which will help you to settle in and will provide extensive information, advice and networking possibilities.

It is mandatory to register your child/ren via this online registration portal - ideally 7 months ahead and before the end of December as Kita decisions about admissions are taken in January the year after. The kindergarten year officially starts on the 1st of August.)
