Services Offered by the University
The University of Siegen offers a number of services to employees, members, and students. We have compiled some services relevant to PhDs and postdocs in alphabetical order. For further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Dual Career Service
The Dual Career Service offers
support to newly appointed professors relocating to the
University of Siegen and the spouses of employees wishing
to take up employment in the region, too. Please be aware
that the job search can take a while and that knowledge of
German is very important.
Family Service Office
The Family Service Office offers support to all
employees and students at the University of Siegen to
reconcile family and work, and to organize day-to-day life.
On their website you won't only find tips and answers to
questions regarding family matters but also information on
events taking place. The Family Service Office is a main
point of contact and is also available for individual
consultations. Being a university adapted to the needs of
employees and students with families is a very important
matter for the office.
House of Young Talents
The House of Young
Talents is the University of Siegen's postgraduate
center and can be found on the Hölderlin campus. It
supports postgraduates with their research activities for a
career both inside and outside of academia. It is available
for questions regarding the topic 'academic careers' and
also offers cross-disciplinary training opportunities.
Language Center
The University of Siegen's Language Center offers language
courses, as well as courses to improve communication and
presentation skills, to all university members who love
languages or are interested in international matters.
Students and employees can learn foreign languages in a
relaxed atmosphere and get to know people during
international movie nights or through language tandems.
Currently, the Languae Center offers 14 languages, four of
which are subject-specific.
Research Alumni Programme
Research alumni are researchers who are undertaking or have
undertaken a research visit to the University of Siegen.
The Research Alumni Programme supports and
publicizes their work through opportunities for
collaboration, exchanges and networking.
University Library
The University library is the main place to go
when looking for literature. All members of the University
can find information relevant to research, teaching or
studying here. Not only printed media can be found here,
but also ever-increasing digital resources. The resources
in their entirety can be found in the digital library catalogues and are
physically located at five different locations. The
University Library also offers work places both for groups
and individuals. You can finde the library locations and

In the main library on the Adolf Reichwein Campus you fans
also find a number of international newspapers and
magazines. Please see here for an overview (as

Women Career Service
The Women Career Service has made
supporting and accompanying female members of the
University its business. Through this it aims to work
against the discrimination still prevalent in the job
market today, visibile, for instance, in lower wages. It
offers workshops and events on career-related topics in
order to increase the knowledge and professional as well as
individual competencies of all interested participants. The
workshops are held by women who not only teach professional
knowledge but also work on making participants more aware
of their own personal strengths. A focus is put on
"study & career entry",
"science & research", and
"science &management". In addition,
the Women Career Service is also a platform for female
university members to exchange experiences.

ZIMT – Center for
Information and Media Technology
The ZIMT is the Center
for Information and Media Technology [Zentrum für
Informations- und Medientechnologie] and one of the
central operating units of the University of Siegen. It is
responsible for all technical matters at the University and
ensures that all University members are equipped with the
necessary tools. The services of the ZIMT include:
