Erasmus+ Partnerships

Maintaining contacts

The departments maintain relations with their contacts at the partner universities:

» Teaching stays at the partner universities as well as at the University of Siegen can be funded within the framework of Erasmus+ Staff Mobility for Teaching.
» Staff members from the technical and administrative sectors can visit partner universities or take part in Europe-wide Staff Weeks within the framework of Erasmus+ Staff Mobility for Training.

Initiating an Erasmus+ Inter-Institutional Agreement (IIA)

New Erasmus+ partnerships are initiated by the departments and coordinated by the International Office.
In order to conclude an Inter-Institutional Agreement with a European university, the following points must be agreed upon:

» Subject focus of the exchange, study programmes to be included at the University of Siegen and at the partner university, if applicable
» Language requirements for Erasmus+ studies at the University of Siegen and at the partner university
» Name of a departmental coordinator at the University of Siegen and at the partner university.

Finally, the new Inter-Institutional Agreement is signed by the partner university and at the International Office and published on the partnerships portal.

Please note that from winter semester 2023/24 on Inter-Institutional Agreements are processed digitally. For further informationplease contact Ms Julia Shirley.

Selection

After the application deadline, the International Office checks the received documents for relevance and completeness. The departments then receive the students' applications for Erasmus+ study seats at the partner universities. The selection is made on the basis of the submitted application documents and possibly individual interviews according to defined selection categories. The pre-filled selection lists, in which prioritisations and rejections are noted, serve this purpose. After the feedback from all departments, the International Office informs the students about the outcome of the selection process and nominates the selected students at the partner universities.

Approval of the Online Learning Agreement(OLA)

With the new Erasmus+ program generation, the Learning Agreement will be replaced by a digital version, the Online Learning Agreement (OLA), for study abroad starting in the academic year 2022/23. The OLA will continue to contain information on course selection at the partner university and recognition at the University of Siegen, but it will be initiated, reviewed and approved (legally binding) via MoveON database of the University of Siegen. Departments appoint designated OLA contacts who are given access to the MoveON database and can then support participating students in creating the OLA. A guideline for working with MoveON can be found here (available in Germany only]. Please note that paper-based Learning Agreements can only be used in case of insurmountable technical problems!

Recognition of foreign study achievements

The Online Learning Agreement (OLA) and the Transcript of Records (ToR), which students receive from the partner university at the end of their studies abroad, form the basis for the recognition of foreign study achievements. The departments are obliged to recognise all study achievements successfully completed at the partner university as agreed in the Online Learning Agreement (OLA).

Admission

After the nomination deadline, the International Office checks the documents received for relevance and completeness. Subsequently, the departments receive the applications of the students from the partner universities for subject-related examination. If they approve the application, the International Office will grant admission to the University of Siegen.

Approval of the Online Learning Agreement (OLA)

The International Office informs the selected students of the partner universities about the course search in unisono. The departments support the students of the partner universities in their course selection at the University of Siegen for the preparation of the Online Learning Agreement (OLA) as of the academic year 2022/23. The students submit the Online Learning Agreement (OLA) in full and on time. The guide (lavailable in German only) contains information on how to approve OLA in MoveON starting on page 12 (Chapter: Schritt 5). Please note that the sending university decides on the technical implementation of the OLA.

Subject-specific supervision at the University of Siegen

The departments take over the subject-related support of the students of the partner universities and, if necessary, support with changes to the Online Learning Agreement (OLA).
