Behavioral addictions: Internet sex addiction

So-called "behavioral addictions", such as computer game addiction, (Internet) shopping addiction and/or Internet sex addiction (Internet pornography addiction) have been comparatively little researched to date and there is comparatively little knowledge about their development, maintenance and therapy. Furthermore, there is a controversial debate as to whether the above-described behaviors constitute an addiction or an independent mental disorder at all. Or are these behaviors not rather a "bad habit" or even completely unproblematic? At the same time, there are many people affected and their social environment that suffer massively from these behaviors. In a current research project, the above-mentioned questions are to be critically examined. In particular, the development and maintenance of (Internet) sex addiction (or pornography addiction) will be investigated.
