Christine S. Sing has worked mainly on the interface between discourse analysis and corpus linguistics, with a focus on Second Language Writing. In addition to her study of English for Specific Purposes (ESP) she has a keen research interest in Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL), Teaching Applications of Language Corpora, and Political Communication.

Christine Sing studied English, French and German at the University of Heidelberg and General Linguistics at the University of Poitiers, France. She was a member of the interdisciplinary Research Training Group “Cultures of Lying”, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and established at the University of Regensburg. She received her PhD from the University of Regensburg with a dissertation that examines American presidential rhetoric as situated within an ideological discourse of change.

Prior to joining the English Linguistics Team at the University of Siegen, Christine Sing held academic positions at the English Departments of the Universities of Heidelberg, Greifswald, Giessen and Vienna, Austria. She was an Assistant Professor at the Vienna University of Economics and Business, where she specialized in English Business communication, Business English as a lingua franca (BELF) and the internationalisation of English.
