General Information
Idea and Objective
The University of Siegen is actively promoting greater internationalization through the establishment of a small but meaningful roster of intensive strategic partnerships. These “Focused Partners,” drawn from a list of potential candidates identified by the Senate Commission for International and Lifelong Learning, offer tremendous opportunities for cooperation in vital areas such as exchanges, teaching, and research.
Key factors in the selection of partners includes regional distribution and the existence of previous contacts in teaching or research, ideally with multiple faculties and subjects.
The focused partnerships are slated to run through 2027, after which an evaluation will be made on whether certain partnerships should be even further reinforced. The goal for these focused partnerships is closer cooperation in all areas, including research, teaching, and mobility of students and staff. This would include the use of special prioritized support for guests and the provision of special funding.
Opportunities for the establishment of other individual partnerships remain unaffected by this, of course.
Comenius International Partnership Program
The Comenius International Partnership Program represents another cornerstone of the University of Siegen’s efforts to promote greater internationalization. It facilitates funding for research stays, official travel to help establish and deepen partnerships, as well as other relevant cooperative efforts. Applications related to the Focused Partners is eligible for prioritized treatment.
