IO1- Communication Challenges
The aim of Intellectual Output 1 (IO1) is to grasp a first-hand informed understanding of the main challenges faced by deaf and non-deaf students, teachers and staff to communicate with each other in educational settings, at the classroom and in daily life.
IO1 Results:
- Five national reports in English language describing the current situation and legal status of the national sign language and International Sign in the partners' countries and discusses the communication challenges faced by deaf students in educational settings and daily life.
- Consolidated Report (E-book), combining the results from the national reports and drawing conclusions based on the collected data. The e-book is published in five European languages under the title "Communication Challenges in Inclusive Education Faced by Deaf and Non-deaf People".
The outcomes of IO1 have also been presented at the ERACON 2021 conference (Read the Paper).
We expect these results to raise awareness of those not suffering from hearing impairments to the serious difficulties faced by hearing impaired students and to make all – deaf and non-deaf – aware of the solutions that are available to overcome these difficulties, mainly those developed by the INSIGN project.
