Ambassadors' Activities
Many international alumni who completed their studies at the University of Siegen and/or were visiting as part of research stays have returned to their home countries and are engaged in research and teaching activities at universities there, sometimes even in leadership positions. Through the alumni network, contact with them is maintained, providing opportunities for international networking, exchanging experiences, actively participating in shaping the network, sharing their experiences with the University of Siegen which shaped their careers, and engaging in research and knowledge transfer. They are important contacts for the University of Siegen in expanding research collaborations or for student marketing in their respective countries or universities. This special connection is intensified by the Alumni Office together with the Welcome Center of the International Office through an Alumni Ambassador Program. With this program, (international) alumni are specifically recruited as ambassadors for the University of Siegen and supported in their role as ambassadors.

With the financial support of the DAAD, a small group of Ambassdors, who are now themselves active in teaching and research at a university in various countries, were invited to the University of Siegen. Over the course of a week, they were given an insight into current developments at the University of Siegen, information about the diverse and internationally orientated study programmes and interesting and innovative research areas from all faculties. They also visited various places of innovation so that they can use this information to encourage students to continue their studies in their home countries and academics to initiate research collaborations or even stays for innovative teaching at the University of Siegen. This programme, designed with many partners from the university's faculties and service facilities, also included workshops that encouraged them to act as spokespeople for the University of Siegen in a special way and to strategically integrate them in their role as ambassadors in discussions with representatives of the university management and faculties.
