Important Information regarding your Subject-Specific Regulations Roads to Democracies (2017)

If you are studying according to the expiring Examination Regulations, you have the opportunity to complete your studies by 31 March 2026, i.e. all achievements (including the Master's thesis and the oral Master's examination) must have been completed by this deadline.

You must submit your Master's thesis to the Examination Office by 31 March 2026 at the latest. The registration for the Master's thesis should therefore be submitted to the Examination Office by the following dates at the latest:

•     non-empirical (18 weeks): Registration until 28. October 2025 | writing period: 25.11.25 - 31.03.26 
•     empirical (26 weeks): Registration until 02. September 2025 | writing period: 30.09.25 - 31.03.26

If you fall ill during the writing period, you can apply for a writing time extension of up to 28 days. Therefore, do not wait until the deadline to register your Master's thesis, but preferably register your Master's thesis at least 1 month before the specified dates in order to extend the writing period in the case of illness!

The Master's thesis examination can take place during the writing period or the assessment period for the Master's thesis, although at the latest eight weeks after the written notification from the Head of the Examination Board of the Faculty that the Master's thesis has been received.
Depending on how late you register the Master's thesis, the oral Master's examination may therefore not take place after the assessments have been received.

Upon request you will be transferred to the new Examination Regulations. The subject-semesters will be continued. Please submit an application for recognition as soon as possible so that the credits you have already achieved can be transferred. 

If you want to re-register for the summer semester 2026, you will need to write an email to STARTING to be transferred to the new examination regulations. Please write this e-mail during the re-registration deadlines for the summer semester 2026.
