CHE-University Ranking: Good Results for the University of Siegen

In the current ranking of the Center for Higher Education Development (CHE), the University of Siegen reaches the top group in several categories. Particularly successful: The Department of Business Information Systems.

The University of Siegen achieves very good results in the current CHE-university ranking in the subjects "Business Information Systems" and "Economics". In both subjects the top group was reached. Business information systems was able to score points in the categories "Contact with Professional Practice" and "Scientific Publications". The subject of economics got top marks in the category "Graduation in Appropriate Time", the international orientation of the Master's degree has also done well in the ranking.

"We are very pleased with these excellent evaluations," says Prof. Dr. Michael Bongardt, Prorector for Studies, Teaching and Teacher Training. "In the last few years, the University of Siegen has specialized in both business information systems and economics, distinguishing us from other universities."

In further disciplines and categories, the university has landed in the midst of current university ranking, for example in economic law, business administration or social work. There is a need for improvement in the area of business engineering, particularly in the academic and business studies," says Prof. Bongardt. "The number of students in business management has risen very sharply. We react to this by significantly increasing the number of staff and the number of tutorials and accompanying courses offered. However, these measures are only noticeable in time and are not yet reflected in the current ranking."

The university ranking, conducted by the Center for Higher Education (CHE), is the most comprehensive and detailed ranking in the German-speaking region. More than 300 universities and universities of applied sciences have examined the CHE for the ranking. Each year, a third of the subjects are reevaluated, in this year business administration, law, social work, macroeconomics, business information systems, business engineering, business law and economics. In addition to facts about studies, teaching and research, the ranking includes assessments of students about the study conditions of their university.

The most important results of the CHE university ranking are published in the ZEIT study guide 2017/18. The ranking is also available on ZEIT CAMPUS ONLINE at www.zeit.de/che-ranking
