Certificate Program “Roads to Democracies – Digital” has launched
The international digital program teaches skills in democracy research – all from home.
In the winter semester of 2021/22, the international certificate program “Roads to Democracies – Digital” will start at the University of Siegen. The study program is part of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research-funded program “International Digital Programs” and aims to digitalize existing successful international study programs. “Roads to Democracies – Digital” offers students qualification opportunities for political, historical, social, and cultural professional fields. For example, in combination with other qualifications, it can enable entry into fields such as international organisations and NGOs, international aid and development organizations, research and higher education institutions, political parties, foundations or internationally active companies.
“With ‘Roads to Democracies – Digital’, we are particularly targeting working people who want to continue their education, part-time students and people who cannot study on-site in Siegen for professional, family, or financial reasons," is how program director Prof. Dr. Raphaela Averkorn describes the project. Therefore, the programme takes place entirely online and can be completed flexibly from anywhere in the world.
The digital program, taught in English, is intended as a complementary, innovative offer alongside the face-to-face Master's program "Roads to Democracies" already offered at the University of Siegen. Our digital seminars are conducted by teachers from various foreign partner universities, which underscores the internationality of the Postgraduate Certificate Program. "Roads-Digital" conveys a fundamental understanding of democracy and the conduct of democracy research worldwide. In addition to opening new professional perspectives, the skills acquired here should enable participants to understand and analyze a wide range of political developments and current events in our world.
