The degree program
The Master's program in Culture, History, Society addresses the complex connection between culture and society and thus addresses the major problems of our present day.
Who are we? And what affects us? What is the "we" of others? And what happens when both meet? How do conflicts arise and how does the culture of both societies change? How can such interactions be organized without rupturing identity? And what does commonality enable despite existing differences? How does culture function depend on its society - also in history?
These are the central questions of the newly designed course of study at the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Siegen "Culture, History, Society", which deals with the complex relationship between culture and society from all professional perspectives. As a graduate of the course, you will have developed scientific skills that can be applied in various professional areas, namely wherever the connection between society and culture and the processes when societies meet, especially acculturation processes, are relevant. This applies to work in and for politics, for media and foundations as well as the fields of development aid, international relations, social movements and especially all areas of intercultural communication.
The completion of the M.A. Culture, History, Society also fundamentally prepares you for a doctorate.
