Notice: Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes increases financial support for doctoral students

The conditions for financial support from the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes for academically excellent and committed doctoral candidates will be significantly improved.

(1 December 2023) In October 2023, the Studienstiftung's financial support for academically excellent and committed doctoral candidates increased to a total of 1,550 euros, and the scholarship will also be increased by a further 100 euros in each of the next two years to a total of 1,750 euros from October 2025. In addition, there is still funding for studying abroad, including fee subsidies, as well as substantial allowances for scholarship holders with child(ren). The scholarship can also be combined with a quarter-time position in the field of research and teaching.

Funding is now also granted for the entire project duration of three years with the option of an additional six-month extension. Parents and candidates whose progress at work is impaired by a chronic illness or disability can receive funding for up to 12 months longer.

In addition to financial support, the Studienstiftung's scholarship offers a programme of non-material support that is constantly being expanded and increasingly geared towards the specific needs of doctoral candidates.
