Semester and Lecture Period

The academic year starts in October and consists of two semesters. Each semester includes a lecture period and a lecture-free period. Courses take place during lecture period, exams are usually held during lecture-free period.
Exam periods are scheduled by the respective school or department and may vary. For further information on exam dates contact your examination office.

Winter Semester	Semester: 1 October to 31 March Lecture Period: early/mid-October to late January/early February
Summer Semester	1 April to 30 September early/mid-April to mid-July

Semester Fee

International Students are currently not charged tuiton. A semester fee of approx. EUR 320 has to be paid before in-person registration and before each semester of study as part of re-registration.

The semester fee includes costs for semester ticket, social and solidarity contribution as well as AStA contribution. For further information on the semester fee visit our website Public Transportation.

International degree as well as Erasmus, exchange and short-term students pay the semester fee for their first semester in cash at the cashier's office or by credit card at the SSC entrance hall.
