PROMOS grant



According to the guidelines and funding rates PROMOS can fund...

  • Studies abroad outside the Erasmus+ program (4 weeks to 6 months)
  • Traineeships abroad outside the Erasmus+ program (6 weeks to 6 months)
  • Language courses abroad (3 weeks to 6 months, min. 25 hours per week)
  • Summer schools abroad (up to 6 weeks)

Button_Application Students apply in the winter semester for a PROMOS grant for stays abroad during the next calendar year, in the summer semester remaining grants are advertised.

Letter of motivation

The letter of motivation must be submitted in the language of instruction/work during the stay abroad and in English.

Motivation

Students justify the choice of their host institution and describe the content of the planned stay.

Curriculum vitae

The CV must be submitted in the language of instruction/work during the stay abroad and in English.

Development

The students provide important information on studies, internships, language skills and social engagement.

Studienbescheinigung

The Studienbescheinigung can be downloaded in unisono in the "My studies" section under "Student Service" and "Reports".

Consistency

For the selection, the meaningfulness of the project for the studies and the professional future is examined.

Leistungsübersicht

The Leistungsübersicht can be downloaded in unisono in the "My studies" section under "Student Service" and "Reports".
First semester students submit the last certificate (High school or Bachelor's) with a Transcript of Records.

Academic achievements

The selection is based on the grades in the degree programme and the previous course of study.

Language certificate

High school diplomas or bachelor's degree certificates as well as OOPT tests are not accepted as language certificates for applications for PROMOS grants.

Language proficiency

All students must submit proof of English B2 or higher.

Students applying for a PROMOS grant for a stay with Spanish or Portuguese as a national language must also submit proof of A2 or higher.

1) Letter of Acceptance

- The Letter of Acceptance indicates the planned start and end dates of the stay abroad.

1) Confirmation of Stay

- The Confirmation of Stay indicates the actual start and end dates of the stay abroad.

2a) Learning Agreement, Table A (Freemovers)

- By signing the Learning Agreement, students confirm that they will complete the study programme described in Table A at the host university.
- With its signature, the host university confirms that it will make the study programme listed in Table A available to the student.

Changes must be documented and signed in Table A2 within one month of the start.

2a) Transcript of Records (Freemovers)

- In the Transcript of Records, the study programme completed by the student is confirmed by the host university.

If less than 15 ECTS per semester were completed during the studies abroad, a statement will be issued to determine whether the grant must be reimbursed.

2b) Learning Agreement, Table B (Freemovers)

- With its signature, the University of Siegen confirms that it will recognise the study programme at the host institution described in Table A in the manner described in Table B.

Changes must be documented and signed in Table B2 within one month of the start.

2b) Proof of Recognition (Freemovers)

- The students submit the Learning Agreement and the Transcript of Records to the Examination Office .
- The recognised study programme is confirmed by the University of Siegen in the certificate of recognition. The proof of recognition is provided e.g. in the form of a "Leistungsübersicht" from unisono.

In case of complaints about recognition, students first contact the Department International Student Affairs. If recognition is refused as agreed in the learning agreement, a review of the decision can be requested by the Rectorate, which can make a recommendation to the relevant examination board. Furthermore, there is the possibility of a formal appeal procedure.

3) Grant Agreement

- Students receive the Grant Agreement by e-mail and print it out.
- They check their personal data and carefully take note of the agreed conditions.
- The signed original document is sent by post to the Department International Student Affairs.

3) Testimonial

- The students write a report on their experiences based on the template.
- The testimonials are made available on the website to interested students.
