Horizon 2020 Information Event

The university informs scientists about the funding opportunities of the European Research Council (ERC).

The Research Support Office and the House of Young Talents at the University of Siegen are offering an information event in the field of European research funding on 16 April 2019. Between 10 am and 2 pm in the Artur-Woll-Haus (Room A 103), professors and junior scientists (preferably with a doctorate) can inform themselves about funding opportunities offered by the European Research Council. Registrations are possible until April 2, 2019: peter.stolpp@zv.uni-siegen.de. The event will be in English.

The European Research Council is an institution set up by the European Commission to finance excellent basic research. It will be funded from 2014 to 2020 through the EU Framework Program for Research and Innovation "Horizon 2020". The offered information event will first give an overview of the different forms of ERC funding. The focus is initially on "individual measures", which are aimed at excellent and outstanding researchers from various career stages.

The ERC Starting Grants (StG), for young scientists (from two to seven years after doctorate completion), can be sponsored over a period of five years with max. two million euros. Up to EUR 2.75 million will be provided to young scientists who are in the time frame between seven and twelve years after graduation, the so-called ERC Consolidator Grants (CoG). Established and already very experienced researchers have the ERC Advanced Grants (AdG) with a funding of up to 3.5 million euros available. Groups between two and four excellent researchers can also apply for financial support (up to € 10 million) under the ERC Synergy Grants (SyG). Furthermore, the lecture by Dominik Maas, consultant at the national contact point ERC Germany, will provide tips and tricks on how to apply for the programs. Participants of the event may also look forward to a report by Prof. Dr. Otfried Gühne, who successfully acquired an ERC CoG in 2015.
