New Rector Takes Office

On 15 December 2023, Prof. Stefanie Reese succeeded Prof. Holger Burckhart and assumed the office of rector of the University of Siegen.

On 15 December 2023, Prof. Stefanie Reese assumed her new position as rector of the University of Siegen. By overwhelming majority, the University Electoral Assembly for the University of Siegen elected Prof. Reese on 8 August 2023 to serve as the new rector. The term of office is six years.

“My thanks go out to all members of the rector’s office, the University Council, and the Senate — both for the work they have done for the University of Siegen in recent years as well as for their support now. In particular, I wish to express my thanks to my predecessor, Prof. Holger Burckhart, for 14 highly successful years of promoting research, instruction, and transfer at this university,” Prof. Stefanie Reese said.

In the coming weeks, the new rector is expected to make a proposal to the search committee on nominations for the prorector positions. A vote will then be held by the University Search Assembly.
