Diversity: How inclusive is university sports?
All course descriptions are available in German and English. No university sports course excludes participants on the basis of gender, age, ethnicity, religion, origin or sexual orientation. The criterion of athletic ability (courses for advanced participants) is only considered if there is also a course in the same sport that is open to all levels. All university sports texts are formulated in a gender-neutral manner.
The ZB-SB is committed to the establishment of unisex changing rooms and unisex toilets. However, the Workplace Ordinance ASR A4.1 stipulates: ‘Separate sanitary facilities must be provided for female and male employees.’ Therefore, it is unfortunately not possible to set up unisex changing rooms to comply with the requirements of the General Equal Treatment Act.
Are there any competitive sports?

How can I offer a university sports course myself?
Please note that you need a first aid certificate that is no more than two years old to lead a sports course. The first aid course must be in accordance with the “Joint Principles for Training and Further Education in First Aid” of the Federal Working Group for First Aid. Therefore, only courses offered by the following aid organisations are eligible: Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund Deutschland e.V. (ASB), Deutsche Lebens-Rettungs-Gesellschaft e.V. (DLRG), Deutsches Rotes Kreuz e.V. (DRK), Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe e.V. (JUH), Malteser Hilfsdienst e.V. (MHD).
Please also note that you need a valid sports licence to lead a sports programme. The training completed must comprise at least 90 hours and correspond to at least level 4 of the German Qualifications Framework (e.g. DOSB C licence). Preferably, this should be a specialist licence for the sport in question, but a multi-sport licence is also sufficient. Only sports activities with an extremely low risk potential may be led without a licence in exceptional cases. A licence is required for fitness and health courses, courses with artistic elements, and small and large sports games.
How can I offer a cooperation course myself?
The sports organisation cooperating with the University provides the sports facility, including the necessary sports equipment, and the instructors for the sports programme. The sports organisation ensures compliance with legal safety requirements. These include, in particular, the safety of the sports facility and sports equipment, the organisation of effective first aid and the qualification of the instructors employed.
