A new season of ATHENA opportunities

The new academic year with ATHENA!

As autumn has arrived, ATHENA European University kickstarts the new academic year. Again, it holds countless opportunities for all members of our community across nine universities throughout Europe.

ATHENA offers a spectrum of different mobility opportunities tailored for both students and staff. For students, ATHENA orchestrates Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs) designed around diverse themes, dedicated to enhancing their skill sets. Conversely, for staff members, ATHENA offers a comprehensive array of training and collaborative platforms, fostering connections with researchers throughout the alliance. Important to note is also ATHENA's shared infrastructure, including open-access Fab Labs, accessible to every member of the ATHENA community!

ATHENA European University offers ongoing mobility and development opportunities for every member of the community – from students to staff to industry and citizens! To learn more about opportunities offered by ATHENA, subscribe to the newsletter, follow ATHENA on social media (FacebookInstagramLinkedInTwitter) and visit the official ATHENA website regularly.

What is ATHENA European University?

The European Universities Initiative is a flagship project of the European Union in the field of higher education and research, aimed at making European universities more internationally open, more efficient, and inclusive.

The Advanced Technology Higher Education Network Alliance (ATHENA) is one of the pilot projects of European Universities selected by the European Commission in 2020, bringing together the Polytechnic Institute of Porto (Portugal), the University of Maribor (Slovenia), the University of Orléans (France), the University of Siegen (Germany), the Hellenic Mediterranean University (Greece), the Niccolò Cusano University (Italy), the Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (Lithuania), the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (Poland) and the University of Vigo (Spain).

In 2022, ATHENA welcomed three higher education institutions as new associated partners: Carinthia University of Applied Sciences (Austria), Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute (Ukraine) and Lviv Polytechnic National University (Ukraine).

Focused on the theme of the digital transformation of societies, ATHENA's ambition is to create resolutely internationalised training courses, to offer international mobility to the greatest number of students including those with disabilities, to promote the emergence of collaborative projects in research and development, and to foster new European perspectives not only to more than 150,000 students and 13,000 staff of the alliance, but also to local communities and partners.
