International tutorials on Digital Tools for Built Heritage diagnosis and monitoring

Le Studium: International tutorials on Digital Tools for Built Heritage diagnosis and monitoringSummer School

Venue: Orléans, France
Date: 20 & 21 June 2023
For graduate, post-graduate students, and staff

On 20 and 21 June 2023, Le Studium Loire Valley for Advanced Studies, together with the University of Orléans, organises a summer school on the topic "International tutorials on Digital Tools for Built Heritage diagnosis and monitoring". Recent advancements in 3D scanning technologies for buildings, coupled with their increasingly widespread adoption by users, now enable us to examine the systematic generation of data for historical buildings.

However, due to the specificity of historical constructions, such as large, complex, and /or non-standardized architecture, materials, and construction processes, as well as specific monitoring applications, Historic Building Information Modeling (HBIM) still faces challenges before it becomes fully operational. This scientific event proposes addressing these challenges by exchanging the latest research findings in this field.

Contents

The programme includes four courses of 2,5 to 3 hours, each providing complementary and transdisciplinary knowledge. Topics are for example:

  • Laser scanning aquisition
  • Photos (terrestrial/drone) acquisition
  • 3D Reconstruction from laser and/ or photos
  • Application 1: GIS for mappings on orthophotos
  • Application 2: Machine Learning for degradation detection

For more information including the programme, please visit the website of the summer school.

Conditions of participation

There are no formal prerequisites in terms of academic degrees.
