Super Summer School on Advanced Databases

From 10 to 17 July 2023, ATHENA European University is organising a Super Summer School on Advanced Databases. It aims to provide students with the basic knowledge and practice to engage with advanced data technologies in collaboration with professors and fellow students from all over Europe.

Contents

You will attend short courses via MS Teams. From Monday to Thursday, you will acquire knowledge and practice on how to use data analytics in decision-making contexts on graph databases using the Neo4j Database Management System, on multidimensional databases and Online Analytical Processing (OLAP), on Data Streaming concepts, and on big data architecture design. On the last day, 17 July 2023, assignments will be carried out by international student groups.

The following distinguished lecturers will lead each of the first 4 days:

• Prof. Carlo Drago (University Niccolò Cusano, Italy)
• Prof. Bruno Moisés Oliveira (IPP, Portugal)
• Dr. Martina Šestak (University of Maribor, Slovenia)

Conditions of participation 

This Super Summer School will be held online only and is completely free. Students from all levels are invited to participate. However, it is required to know the basics of databases and programming. Furthermore, registered auditors must attend all days of the summer school.

Benefits

Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate of participation.

The winning group from the assignment will be offered the opportunity to present its work at the next ATHENA European University conference which will be held in Heraklion, Greece, in September 2023.

Calendar

1. Register until 5 July 2023.
2. From 10 - 13 July 2023: short courses led by distinguished lecturers.
3. From 17 July 2023: debriefing days 1 to 4 and assignments with a subsequent presentation.
