Financial support
The Faculty of Arts and Humanities offers various financial support opportunities for researchers and early career researchers, which you can apply for: an overview of funding formats at the Faculty is compiled on this page. Scholarships for completion of doctorate
What/who is supported and to what extent?
- Target group: doctoral candidates (shortly before completion of the doctorate)
- Intended purpose: completion of the doctorate at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities
- Amount of the final scholarship: 1500 € per month (if necessary plus family component)
- Duration of the scholarship: maximum one year
- Application period: June 1 to 30

How do I apply?
- Please submit the application for a final scholarship (including attachments) (in German) to the Vice Dean for Research and Young Academics (copy to the Executive Office) within the application deadline.
- The application will then be discussed by the Research Commission of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities.
Research support funding for young scientists
What/who is supported and to what extent?
- Target group: doctoral candidates, habilitation candidates and post-docs
- Intended purpose: support of research activities for early career researchers (details here) (in German)
- Amount of the funding: maximum 800 € per year (usually with a 25% personal contribution)
- Application deadline: no deadline, ideally early before the start of the research activity

- Important:
- You must have applied primarily for external support for your project (e.g. DAAD scholarships for research trips).
- If you are employed in a project position or as an employee of a professorship, the application must indicate that no funding from the professor's funds, project funds or other budget funds is possible. Confirmation from the professor or head of project is required. If you are not employed in a project position or as an employee of a professor, the signature of the supervisor of the dissertation or habilitation is required.
- Please note that the research activity will initially be pre-financed by yourself.
What needs to be considered for official trips?
- If you apply for support for a offical trip and are employed at the University of Siegen, please submit a travel expense report to the Dean's Office after your trip. Please submit in advance your request for your official trip/notification of official trip.
- External applicants please submit the application for travel expense allowance to the Dean's Office. Please note that you have applied for support from the Young Academics funding program.
How do I apply?
- Please submit your application for financial support to the Commission for the Support of young scientistsvia Mathias Scheicher.
- The application will then be discussed by the Commission for the Support of Academics.
Georg Bollenbeck Fellowship
What/who is supported and to what extent?
- Target group: all members of the faculty
- Intended purpose: international networking and profiling of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities
- Amount of the final scholarship: 2500 € per month for post-docs and 3000 € for professors
- Duration of the scholarship: maximum three months
- Application period: September 1 to 30 of the year Prior to the guest stay and, if available, December 10 to January 10

- Please submit the application for a Bollenbeck-Fellowship (including attachments) (in German) to the Dean (copy to the Executive Office) within the application deadline.
- The application will then be discussed by the Research Commission of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities.
Conference funding
What/who is supported and to what extent?
- Target group: all members of the faculty
- Intended purpose: Funding of national or international conferences of scientific associations at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities
- Amount: maximum 1.500 €
- Application period: June 1 to 30
