A semester abroad in Japan, an internship in Sweden, a research stay in Mexico or a student project in New York City? The University of Siegen offers numerous opportunities for all members of the University to spend time abroad. On June 10, between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., the University will host its first Virtual International Day. The event offers a chance to all those interested to find out more about a stay at the University of Siegen. Registration is not necessary. Most of the sessions will be held in English. https://www.cme24-forum.de/.

"During the Covid-19 pandemic, many host countries have been out of reach. But we encourage everyone to start planning now for when stays abroad are possible again," Katharina Sommer, Head of International Student Affairs, explains. For most stays abroad, everyone should plan with a lead-time of one to one and a half years, so now is exactly the right time to get started.

The University of Siegen’s Language Center offers a “Taste of Language” and explains what kind of language certificate is required for which stay aboard. Students learn how to choose a suitable partner university, how to apply, and how to best approach organizing and financing their stay. The "Model United Nations" program, in which students simulate the work of the United Nations in New York City as part of a simulation game, will also offer a session. International students can learn from international alumni how to successfully start a career in German companies. Early career researchers have the opportunity to find out how they can go abroad during their doctorate or post doctorate. Furthermore, researchers from Siegen can learn how to host international researchers at their institutions. For employees, "Staff Mobility" within the Erasmus+ program will be presented, with which partner universities can be visited for teaching or further education and training. Vocational trainees can also participate in this program.

In addition, the Research Alumni Program invites you to participate in the exchange with the Research Alumni Network. All international participants can discover which study and research options are open to them at the University of Siegen, how they can learn German in Siegen, find an apartment, and how they will be supported during their stay.

All employees of the University are permitted to participate in the individual sessions during working hours after consultation with their respective supervisors, provided that there are no conflicting official interests.
