The degree program
Since winter semester 2015/16, the University of Siegen has been offering the binational six-semester bachelor’s program in Language, Communication and Economics in Europe together with the University of Orléans within the scope of the Franco-German University (Deutsch-Französische Hochschule; DFA), which leads to the Franco-German double degree of Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and Licence Langues Étrangères Appliquées (LEA). Supported by the DFH, students alternate between the sites of Siegen and Orléans: Students spend their first year of study at their respective home universities, the second year of study together at the University of Orléans and the 3rd year of study has German and French students together at the University of Siegen.
The degree program is made up of the fields of applied linguistics, foreign languages (French, English) and economics. Students acquire enhanced knowledge of the language, culture and economy of the neighboring country of France, research the use of language and communication in subject-specific, organizational and intercultural contexts.
Can be studied as...
Language, Communication and Economics in Europe can only be studied as an advanced major subject in the 1-subject degree program. The bachelor's program is a 3-year full-time program. The German-French student group spends the second year of study together at the University of Orléans.
Structure of the degree program
Language, Communication and Economics in Europe can be studied as a 1-subject course.
Important information
A requirement for admission is the documentation of special language skills (level B2 for French and English), which are generally covered by the university entrance qualification acquired in school. It is highly advisable, though not mandatory, to take a language test before the start of the degree program, which provides the basis for a subsequent counselling session involving prospective students and lecturers.
Professional prospects
Students prepare for their professional future in the fields of corporate communication, public relations, further education and HR work or a subsequent master’s degree program.
