Erasmus+ Studies

Discover Europe and study abroad! Apply for Erasmus+ and study at one of our 150 partner universities in Europe for one semester or an academic year. Credits and grades you complete abroad are recognized towards your degree after your return.

With your seat offer you receive a monthly Erasmus+ grant for your country of destination. Additionally you can apply for the Equal Opportunities and Inclusion Top-up or the Green Travel Top-up.

Online Form

Create an account for our MoveON Outgoing-Portal, fill in the online form EUROPE | Erasmus+ Studies: Step 1, and upload your application documents:

• Enrolment Certificate (Studienbescheinigung)
• List of Achievements (Leistungsübersicht)
   first-year students: latest diploma/certificate
• CV in English
• Proof of language proficiency (e.g. High School Diploma) 

APPLICATION DEADLINES

• October 15 to Dezember 15, 2023:
   studies in winter- and/or summer 24/25
• April 15 to Juni 15, 2024:
   studies in summer semester 2025

PREPARATION

You may include up to three stay wishes. For each stay wish you will be asked to a) give reasons for your choice of partner university and b) describe your planned studies abroad.
Use our Info-Portal to search for exchange options for your field of study and study level. Pay attention to differing academic calenders, course offers and language requirements abroad! For some partner universities additional application requirements may apply.

SELECTION CRITIRIA

Selection criteria are academic purpose and value, academic achievements and proficiency in the main language of instruction abroad (CEFR-Level: ≥B2).

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Erasmus Studies Application Procedure WebThe Erasmus+ application procedure includes two rounds of applications. First, you apply at the University of Siegen for an exchange spot. If your application is successful, you are nominated by the International Office and apply at the partner university abroad.


Erasmus+ Program Documents

Students who have successfully applied for the Erasmus+ program and accepted a seat offer must document the stay abroad.
The below liste Erasmus+ program documents are a requirement for your partcipation in the Erasmus+ program and the payment of your Erasmus+ grant . Below you find more information about the individual documents and how to submit them.

Before your studies

Before the start of your Erasmus+ studies, you have to submit program documents via our MoveON Outgoing-Portal by the respective deadline:

EUROPE | Erasmus+ Studies: Step 2

❶   Letter of Acceptance
Once you have accepted your exchange spot, you apply at the partner university abroad. If your application is successful, you receive a Letter of Acceptance. The document includes the planned start and end date of your stay. The planned Erasmus+ grant is calculated for this period of stay.

❷   Enrolment Certificate
Only fully enrolled students are eligible to participate in the Erasmus+ program. The Enrolment Certificate confirms your current student status.

❸   Declaration on Honor
If you wish to apply for an Erasmus+ Top-up for "Green Travel" or "Equal Opportunities & Inclusion", please fill in the Declaration on Honour and submit a scan of the hand-signed copy. Keep the original hard copy for random sample checks.

❹   OLS Placement Test 
Before the start of your stay we send you a link to the Online Language Support (OLS) of the EU Academy. Via OLS you take a language placement test in the language of instruction abroad. After you have completed the placement test, make sure to download the OLS certificate. 

❺   Online Learning Agreement
You can initiate the Online Learning Agreement (OLA) via our  MoveON Outgoing-Portal, after you have been nominated at the partner university. The Online Learning Agreement includes a list of courses and credits you plan to complete abroad (at least 15 ECTS per semester!) and a corresponding list of module elements of your study program in Siegen for future recognition. Once the OLA has been signed by you, your Designated OLA Contact and the contact person at the partner university, you can download a PDF copy. Students of Arts and Humanities (I):
The School for Arts and Humanities (I) has established an OLA process which requires prior review by an academic advisor.

icon_arrow_bold   Grant Payment: First Instalment
After you have submitted all required program documents via the MoveON Outgoing-Portal , you receive your Grant Agreement. Sign the hard copy by hand and submit the document by post or in person. Once the Grant Agreement has been duly signed, you receive your first instalment of your Erasmus+ grant (70% of the planned grant amount). 

After your studies

Within two months after the end of your Erasmus+ studies you submit the following program documents by completing the form "EUROPE | Erasmus+ Studies: Step 3 Upload Grant Documents After Stay" via our  MoveON Outgoing-Portal :

❶   Confirmation of Stay
The Confirmation of Stay 2023/24 or Confirmation of Stay 2024/25, is completed and signed by our partner university on the last day of your stay or later. The document includes the actual start and end date of your Erasmus+ studies. The actual duration of stay is the basis for the final calculation of your Erasmus+ grant.

❷   Transcript of Records
After your Erasmus+ studies you receive a Transcript of Records from the partner university. The document includes all credits and grades completed abroad (at least 15 ECTS per semester!).

❸   Proof of Recognition
Recognition of your academic achievements is processed by your examination office. Once the grades and credits have been published in unisono, your submit a List of Achievements.

❹   Experience Report
An experience report should be one to two pages long and include information on the preparation of your stay as well as campus life and studies at the partner university. The information in this report should help others selecting a suitable exchange option and preparing for their stay abroad.

❺   EU-Survey: Participant Report
The Participant Report is mandatory. A link is sent automatically at the end of your Erasmus+ studies. A PDF copy  is available for download once you have submitted the survey.

icon_arrow_bold   Grant Payment: Second Instalment
Once you have submitted all requierd program documents, we calculate the actual grant amount and prepare the payment of the second instalment of your Erasmus+ grant.
