Prorectorate for Science, Technology and Society

The work of the Prorectorate for Science, Technology and Society serves to support and further develop the strategic positioning of the university. The profile lines of the university and the region are to be coordinated and moved towards each other.

The University of Siegen's already visible research focus on the topic of "Transformation of rural indistrialized regions" is to be further expanded, integrated into the university's self-image and made fruitful for the further development of regional cooperation.

The Prorectorate has established new structures for strategic and operational transformation topics as well as for networking with regional stakeholders (founding of a regional advisory board; further development of the third mission from knowledge transfer to knowledge co-production; support for start-up activities). The activities of the Prorectorate are based on the conviction that social transformations should be developed in a participatory and iterative manner with stakeholders from universities, civil society and business and should be subject to ongoing academic reflection.
