Application

Student exchanges for one semester or an academic year at partner universities worldwide are offered for students of all fields of study. An exchange includes a tuition waiver abroad. Additionally participating students are eligible to apply for a PROMOS scholarship.

 

Application Deadlines

Calls for application for exchange in the following academic year are published each October. If exchange spots remain open, a second call for applications for exchanges in the following summer semester are published in April.

  • Exchange in Winter 2023/24  and/or Summer 2024: 
    1 to  30 November 2022
  • Exchange in Summer 2024 (Remaining Seats):
    15 April to 31 May 2023

Application Procedure 

Students must complete two rounds of application. Students apply with us for an exchange spot. Successful applicants are nominated and apply for admission at the respective partner university abroad.

Students need to register with the moveon Outgoing Portal to start an online application. Choose your login information carefully! If your application is successful you will need to access the portal to accept an offer and to document your planned studies abroad!

Letter of motivation

A letter of motivation must be submitted in the language of instruction during the studies abroad for each selected stay wish. Students may include up to three stay wishes. 

The Focus on the academic purpose of the planned stay abroad. Do your research and check academic calendars, course offers, student societies and university sports at the respective partner universities. Describe your planned studies abroad, and give reasons why you selected the respective stay offers. If possible, list courses you would like to take during your exchange at the partner university.

Curriculum vitae

For each of the three stay wishes, a CV must be submitted in the language of instruction during the studies abroad .

The CV should include relevant information on studies, internships or work experiences, international experiences and language skills as well as social engagement.

Confirmation of Enrolment

The Confirmation of Enrollment (Studienbescheinigung) is available for download in  in the "My studies" section under "Student Service" and "Reports".

The study programme at the University of Siegen must correspond with the subject area at the host university according to the details of the stay opportunity. Exceptions apply to selected, new exchange opportunities at Chonnam National University and National Dong Hwa University. Students of all study programmes may select language courses as well as country and culture specific introductory courses.

List of Achievement 

The List of Achievements (Leistungsübersicht) is available for download in unisono in the "My studies" section under "Student Service" and "Reports".
First-semester students submit the last certificate (high school diploma or Bachelor's certificate) with a transcript of records.

For the selection, the grades in the degree programme and the previous course of studies are taken into account.

Language certificate

Students must submit a language certificate that meets the criteria listed below.

Please note that participation in an exchange requires a B2 level in the language of instruction is required.

English
Stays abroad for academic purposes require a language level of B2 or higher in English.

For overseas exchange applicants an OnSET placement test is available free of charge at the Language Center of the University of Siegen. Register in due time for a test session.

If you have already completed a recognized English language test (TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS or Cambridge; no OOPT, DAAD Language Certiciate or OLS), the OnSET placement test may be waived. Include a copy of the certificate (no older than 2 years) in your application.

French, Spanish or Portuguese

If you are planning a stay abroad in a French, Spanish or Portuguese speaking country, you must submit a confirmation of language proficiency (A2 or higher).If further language requirements for Spanish or Portuguese exist at the respective partner university, students must meet these requirements.

If the language level is below B2 you must submit an additional English language certificate (see information above).

Currently we accept Spanish placement tests or Confirmation of Language Proficiency issued by the Language Center or your language teacher at the University of Siegen.
