Compensation of disadvantage

Compensation of disadvantage for students with chronic illnesses / disabilities

According to §20 of the Examination Regulations, students with a chronic illness or a disability have a right to compensation of disadvantage if they are not able to pass study and/or examinations in whole or in part in the intended form within the specified deadlines. This does not involve adjustments to the content of the examinations. Compensation of disadvantage is intended to ensure that students with impairments can study under equivalent conditions.

Counseling options
Your primary contact for advice regarding an application for compensation of disadvantage is the Inclusive Service Office of the University of Siegen . On their website ((in German) you will find information about compensation of disadvantage, support during your studies and the contact address of the representative for students with disabilities and/or chronic illness.

In order to process an application for compensation of disadvantage, the Examination Office requires the documents listed below from you, which you should send in full and in good time (before examinations/final examination) to your contact person in the Examination Office. Unfortunately, incomplete applications cannot be processed and will not be forwarded to the General Examination Board of the Faculty.

Applications for compensation of disadvantage related to the practical elements of the study program, internships, practical phases, etc., must always be submitted directly to the Internship Committee for students of Faculty I. Anna Maria Weber is your contact person here.

Compensation of disadvantage during maternity leave, childcare or care of relatives

According to §19 of the respective framework examination regulations, students can apply for compensation of disadvantage during their studies for the following reasons: Maternity leave, parental leave or care of dependents.

Your primary contact here is Parent and Family Services of the University of Siegen. Their website (in German) contains important information about pregnancy/maternity protection, care of dependents, semesters of leave, and the corresponding contact and counseling options.

If you would like to apply for one of the above reasons, please submit the completed form together with the required documents to the Examination Office. Please make sure that the application is complete, otherwise it cannot be processed.
