Summer School Sevilla 2023: Inolvidables Experiencias en Sevilla

El Summer School Sevilla 2023 está en pleno curso. Los estudiantes de la Universidad de Siegen que participan en esta Escuela de Verano en español ya dejaron su huella en la ciudad. Llegaron a Sevilla el fin de semana del 5 al 6 de agosto y comenzaron sus clases el 7 de agosto en el centro universitario EUSA con quienes cooperamos para el Summer School desde 2022. Desde su llegada, los anfitriones sevillanos, liderados por Marta Fernández y las profesoras Carmen y María del Mar, les dieron una cálida bienvenida. El entusiasmo y actitud positiva del grupo de la Universidad de Siegen han añadido diversión y camaradería a la experiencia académica.
Sevilla los ha recibido con su espléndido verano, brindándoles la oportunidad de perfeccionar el español y sumergirse en la cultura local. En la primera semana, participaron en una velada de flamenco única. Incluyó un taller interactivo con la Fundación Cristina Heeren Flamenco, donde los estudiantes aprendieron ritmo y compás. La jornada culminó con un impresionante espectáculo que les permitió experimentar la música emblemática de Sevilla.
Otra actividad fue la visita a los Reales Alcázares de Sevilla. Los estudiantes quedaron maravillados por la belleza del conjunto arquitectónico y sus jardines, y participaron en una visita guiada que les permitió aplicar conocimientos y profundizar en la historia del lugar. Luego, en el barrio de Santa Cruz, participaron en un rally interactivo y se conectaron con los habitantes locales.

Esta semana, los estudiantes disfrutaron de un emocionante tour en kayak por el río Guadalquivir, explorando rincones icónicos de la ciudad mientras aprendían a navegar en kayak. Hoy, se preparan para una clase de español en el pintoresco barrio de Triana, un distrito emblemático de Sevilla. Durante la clase al aire libre, pondrán en práctica habilidades lingüísticas y explorarán la rica cultura sevillana. A medida que avanzamos hacia la última semana, esperamos que sigan absorbiendo conocimientos y creando recuerdos en esta enriquecedora experiencia.

El grupo concluyó la última fase del programa con notable entusiasmo y enriquecedoras vivencias. El martes pasado, participaron en un taller de cerámica en Triana acompañados de la profesora de español Carmen. Los estudiantes tuvieron el privilegio de aprender de la mano de la alfarera Beatriz, ceramista de tercera generación en uno de los últimos talleres ancestrales aún presentes en el barrio. Los estudiantes plasmaron sus propias creaciones en azulejos, los cuales parecen ser verdaderas obras de arte. Esperamos poder apreciar las creaciones a su regreso.
En el transcurso del periodo de la escuela de verano, los participantes demostraron su capacidad para aprovechar el tiempo libre de manera constructiva, ampliando sus horizontes culturales y fortaleciendo sus conexiones sociales en la región andaluza. Algunos optaron por explorar Córdoba, otros se aventuraron en el Caminito del Rey en Málaga, una senda elevada con impresionantes panorámicas. También otros visitaron Cádiz, la urbe más antigua de Europa, además disfrutaron de la playa de Bolonia. El grupo se caracteriza por abordar sus actividades con naturalidad y un encomiable interés. Es un grupo con el que todo se hace sin complicaciones y con mucho interés. Por eso los felicitamos porque han dejado una muy buena impresión en sus docentes y anfitriones.
Summer School Seville 2023: Unforgettable Experiences in Seville

The Summer School Seville 2023 is in full swing. The students of the University of Siegen have already left their traces in the city. The group arrived in Seville on the weekend of August 5th/6th. On August 7th classes began at the University Center EUSA, with whom we have been cooperating for the Summer School since 2022 . There they were welcomed by the Sevillian hosts, led by Marta Fernández and the teachers Carmen and María del Mar.
Seville welcomes the students from Siegen with a wonderful summer and many opportunities to improve their Spanish by immersing themselves in the life and culture of the city. For example, during the first week, they participated in an extraordinary flamenco evening. This included an interactive workshop with the Fundación Cristina Heeren Flamenco, where participants learned rhythm and compás. The day culminated in an impressive show where they could experience the characteristic music of Seville.
Another activity was a visit to the Reales Alcázares in Seville. The students were impressed by the beauty of the architectural complex and its gardens and participated in a guided tour, where they were able to apply their knowledge and learn more about the history of this place. Afterwards, in the Santa Cruz neighborhood, there was an interactive rally, which focused on communication with the locals.
14th August - 18th August 2023
In the second week, everyone enjoyed an exciting kayak tour on the Guadalquivir River, where they explored iconic corners of the city and learned how to kayak at the same time. Today they are preparing for a Spanish course in the picturesque Triana neighborhood, an emblematic part of Seville. During the outdoor classes, they will practice their language skills and explore the rich culture of Seville. We hope that during their final week they will continue to gain knowledge and create memories of this enriching experience.

The group has completed the last phase of the program with great enthusiasm and enriching experiences. Last Tuesday, accompanied by Spanish teacher Carmen, they participated in a pottery workshop in Triana. The students had the privilege of learning from potter Beatriz, a third-generation ceramist, in one of the last traditional workshops in the neighborhood. The students painted their own creations on tiles which seem to be true works of art. We are excited to see what they will present to us when they return.
During the summer school, the participants demonstrated their ability to use their free time constructively, broadening their cultural horizons and strengthening their social relationships in the Andalusian region. Some discovered Córdoba, others ventured up the Caminito del Rey in Málaga, a high-altitude trail with breathtaking panoramic views. Others visited Cadiz, the oldest city in Europe, and enjoyed the beach at Bolonia. The group is characterized by a natural attitude towards the activities as well as a commendable interest. It is a group in which everything runs smoothly and with great interest. We congratulate them because they left a very good impression on their teachers and hosts.
