Born 1957 in Havixbeck (Westphalia). Study of Social Science and German Language and Literature Studies at the RWTH in Aachen. Doctoral degree in 1991 at the University of Münster. Postdoctoral degree in 1997 at the University of Gießen. Grants by the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) and the Fulbright Commission. DAAD lecturer in German Language, Literature and Cultural Studies at the University of Bradford, Great Britain (1986-1989). Visiting lecturer at the University of Münster (1989-1990). Postgraduate assistant and interim professor at the University of Gießen (1990-1997). Lecturer in Cultural Politics at the University of East Anglia, Great Britain (1998-19999). Lecturer in German Studies at the University of Technology Sydney, Australia (Jan-Sep 2000). As of October 2000 professor of Political Science at the University of Siegen (10/2000-03/2023). Retired since 04/2023.
