Prof.
Dr.-Ing.
Thomas
Carolus
retires
after
30
years
of
international
research
cooperation
at
the
University
of
Siegen
Prof.
Dr.-Ing.
Carolus,
whose
research
specialties
include
hydrokinetic
flow
machines,
has
worked
diligently
across
his
30
year
career
at
the
University
of
Siegen
toward
technical
advances
in
the
generation
of
renewable
energy.
He
has
also
been
very
active
in
promoting
cooperation
between
international
universities.
He
was
the
coordinator
for
binational
degree
programmes
with
partner
institutions
in
France
and
the
U.K.
He
has
also
undertaken
and
hosted
research
visits
between
Siegen
and
the
Polytechnical
University
of
Tirana,
Albania.
We

him
the

of

recognised

scientific
research
In
Dakar,
as
part
of
the
10th
edition
of
its
regional
program
"For
Women
in
Science",
Dr.
Nowsheen
Goonoo
was
one
of
the
20
female
researchers
who
received
the
2019
Young
Talent
Award
for
Sub-Saharan
Africa,
at
a
cermony
organised
by
theL'Oréal
Foundation
and
UNESCO.
Dr.
Goonoo
has
made
multiple
research
visits
to
Siegen
as
part
of
her
longstanding
research
cooperation
with
Prof.
Holger
Schönherr.
