Courses for Exchange Students
Recommended Courses for Exchange Students for the upcoming Summer Term 2025
At the Faculty of Arts and Humanities there is a distinction between ECTS-credits that can be obtained in each course by completing a course requirement (Studienleistung, SL) and ECTS-credits that can be completed through an examinations/graded pieces of work (Prüfungsleistung, PL). This means that in each course students can register for 3 ECTS-credits as a course requirement and in most of the classes for additional 3 ECTS for the examination (in total 6 ECTS per course). The forms of assessment for completing the course requirement (Studienleistung, SL) are according to the examination regulation:
• Active participation in class/class discussions or
• Short written test (30-45 minutes) or
• Short oral presentation (15. minutes) or
• Short written piece of work (6-8 pages) or
• Oral exam (ca. 15 minutes) or
• Work sample/portfolio or
• Equivalent alternatives for one of the above
The course instructor will inform you about the possible options in the respective seminar. Usually the course requriement is not graded but students can request to receive a grade for the course requirement during the first session of the class.
The forms of assessment for for obtaining additional 3 cp examination/graded piece of work (Prüfungsleistung, PL):
• Longer written piece of work/seminar paper (ca. 12-16 pages) or
• Written documentation of oral presentation (ca. 8-12 pages) or
• Oral exam (ca. 25-45 min.) or
• Written exam (ca. 45-120 min.) or
• A combination of the above mentioned forms or equivalent forms of examination.
Instructors will communicate the possible assessment forms in the first session of the courses.
